I’m 60. I want to learn yoga. But I’m not sure where to start.
SouthernSoftie 7th September 2021 at 10:01 am
I went on a Yoga retreat in Italy about 8 years ago , they cater for all levels. We had such a fantastic time I wanted to continue on my return. Think its best to start with classes, try a few to find a teacher and style you like. I went to some halls that were so cold you could not enjoy the class.
I have now been doing yoga at home for the last 2 years every day. Yoga with Adrienne .. I think it has made a difference to my bode and keeps the weight off. I am late 60’s .. -

Do you volunteer?
SouthernSoftie 28th September 2021 at 4:29 pm
I started volunteering a year after I retired. Firstly with Pilgrims Hospice on Reception. When I moved to Sandwich I wanted something local. Now volunteer in a church (no longer in use for services). We have craft stalls and donations which we sell to help with the upkeep of the church. I meet lots of people who are visiting the town. We have a food bank in the church and help the local community. Really enjoy it.

I think its best to look at local small volunteering opportunities.
Quite a few in my area. Great way of meeting others and feeling useful.
I like to be able to help but in an ad hoc way.. -

SouthernSoftie 6th December 2021 at 11:04 am
My first flight was to Benidorm when I was about 17.. boyfriend got badly burned . That was in the late 60’s and I have never been back. Flown to a lot of other places since having worked in Travel.

Any other petrol heads on here?
SouthernSoftie 15th January 2022 at 9:08 am
My Fav car that I owned was my white Saab Convertible, had wanted one since I was about 18. Finally got it when I was mid 50’s.
I let it go last summer to a friend who will cherish it and it should go on for ever!
I could not have maintained it as it gets old.
Now have my first Mini Cooper S – never wanted a small car but this is fun, like a go kart. -

I got my MiniMoo. Was very sad to let my Saab Convertible go but the new car is fun, makes you smile and feels like a racing car -

The medication they give you only stops sickness. You have to wait for it to pass.
I have had it in the past a number of times. Often known as the top shelf disease, as if you look up you feel dizzy. One cure is the Epley manoeuvre which my Doctor told me to try (after I had had it for 7 weeks) it worked. You can look it up on Youtube for instructions.
I believe stress did bring mine on. Not had it for some time now. -
I’m 60. I want to learn yoga. But I’m not sure where to start.
SouthernSoftie 11th April 2022 at 10:40 am
I only took up Yoga properly at 62 and now do it every day with Adrienne.
Just back from a yoga retreat weekend.
My friend and I went on a Weeks Yoga retreat in Italy about 8 years ago and loved it so when I got back I started going to classes. In the winter its hard as some halls are cold and not conducive. You need to feel comfortable with the teacher too.
Since first lockdown I have only done home yoga with youtube and love it. Need to have a nice space and mat really. Yoga has changed my life though so give it a try. Keeps you flexible in body and mind.
Lots of choice these days for classes and meditation. I would get guidance at first and then maybe go it alone. -

Plus what we want now is very different to what we wanted in the past. -
When is it “Too Much”?
SouthernSoftie 12th April 2022 at 11:35 am
I am not sure why you have asked the audience as you have made up your mind. We just need to do what we feel right with.
I know I prefer men a bit younger than me, not a toyboy.
I was once told by a male that if you do hook up with a much younger guy he will leave you at some stage for a younger model. When I did date a guy about 16 years younger I never saw it going anywhere so did not give it a chance. Just saw it as fun at the time and it suited both of us.

SouthernSoftie 12th April 2022 at 4:44 pm
Off to Croatia in May on my own. Assume the others will all be couples but maybe not. Going on a Gullet holiday.

Does anyone else worry about drinking alcohol?
SouthernSoftie 14th April 2022 at 5:38 pm
If you worry about the drinking maybe it is time to cut back…
Worry in itself is a toll on our body..
A little of what you fancy though is a good thing.. -
Red flag 🚩??
SouthernSoftie 18th April 2022 at 12:03 pm
I think the first guy was paranoid. If they use dating sites a lot they know people shop around. You have to start talking to a few people at the start to then decide who you would like to meet. He didn’t like the fact you might still be looking for more options. Sounded like a slap on the wrist.

Do you volunteer?
SouthernSoftie 18th April 2022 at 9:21 pm
I volunteer in a church locally. Its not used for services anymore and is part of the church restoration Society. We run a charity shop and also have local crafters with stalls. Great way of meeting people who are visiting the area. They are always surprised when they walk in and see so much stuff in there. Great way to still use a church and help the local community. We have a food bank in there one day a week.

SouthernSoftie 1st May 2022 at 9:45 am
I hope you find something suitable. I love Croatia and am going soon on a Gullet holiday. I did one about 6 years ago in Turkey with Solo’s and loved it. Only ended up with 6 of us and the crew. Its the most relaxing holiday ever. This time I have booked with Adriatic Holidays and paid extra for my single cabin. I expect all the others on board will be couples. They moor in little coves and do various stops during the week. Lots of swimming, reading and looking at at sea.

Red flag 🚩??
SouthernSoftie 18th April 2022 at 12:19 pm
Yes Daisy it does take up too much head space. Can be very disappointing. I did online dating for around ten years on and off. Met some lovely people. Have not been online now for three years. Cannot face doing a profile and going through the whole thing again, its a can of worms. I am happy and content but would like to share life on occasions. Miss male company too.
