I am divorced, work full time (needs must!) have two grown up children and two gorgeous grandchildren. In my spare time I am a loss and grief coach and passionate about supporting people going through a loss or bereavement. Sadly too much of this at the moment. There are over 40 significant losses that we may experience in our lifetime and the affect these have on us can vary drastically. I love learning and always doing courses to improve my skillIs. An avid reader and in a book group.

Hi Shirlann, it is important to be true to yourself and focus on what will make you happy and at peace with yourself. This could be spending time on your own in an allotment, listening to the music you like and watching the films you want to see. It is about changing the way you have been in the past to how you are going to be in the future. Reinvent yourself to be who you want to be. It may be hard initially with your family but hang on in there and you will eventually get the response and respect you deserve. I wish you well.

Hello Karen and to all those lovely people supporting you at this time of loss and grief and who have too lost someone very close to them. The feeling of loss is overwhelming and I am sure you are experiencing all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions from shock, anger and disbelief. Grief is unique to each and every one of us and no one knows exactly how you are feeling we can only imagine through our own experiences. It is time to really look after yourself with your health and wellbeing and talk to someone about your husband. As a loss and grief counsellor myself I know how important it is to talk. Julie x

Hi Colin, Thank you for the welcome. Yes some days are overwhelming as you will only know too well from your wife. My mother gave me some very sound advice which I have used all my life. Always put yourself in the other persons shoes….. I usually have three books on the go….. A book club book I read at bedtime, which can be any genre and as we have been going for 7 years we have covered quite a range of books. A talking book when walking, this is usually a biography read by the author and a book to dip into relating to work or further learning. What do you like to read?
