John Thaw in Morse and The Sweeny, Martin Shaw in Inspector George Gently,
John Nettles in Bergerac. -

It would have to be Peter Falk’s portrayal of Columbo. You never quite knew when he had figured out who the murderer was. Usually the minute he met them I think. Then the rest of the program was him tormenting them until he had them backed into a corner. Great acting

I wasn’t sure at first as it’s a bit graphic but the characters really grew on me. I am trying to resist starting it again.

Speaking of TV Detectives, Does anyone remember a programme called The Detectives, starring Jasper Carrot and Robert Powell, as Briggs and Louis?

CAAS 24th March 2021 at 4:10 pm
I thought it was very funny. The only other comedy Detective would be Inspector Clouseau played by the brilliant Peter Sellers.

Life on Mars was fantastic and I have heard rumours of another series. Don’t know how they would do that.
When I was young I thought Kojak was really cool.
Recently I have watched every episode of Inspector Montalbano and Young Montalbano. They are in Italian but the subtitles are quite simple and easy to follow. It’s very entertaining and the scenery and architecture in Scicily where it’s filmed is spectacular. Montalbano is gorgeous. -

Love Montalbano! So much so I was planning to go to Sicily to visit the film sites, such a beautiful Island and wonderful architecture. Then Covid came so that plan is on hold.
Oh!, and Jesse Stone, Tom Selleck again, need I say more:)-
Malley 25th March 2021 at 8:36 am
Yes, I wanted to visit Sicily also. The train journey from the south of the island up to near where they film, on Great Train Journeys, was interesting and beautiful. There is an old, not very up to date Montalbano fan club web site. Have you seen it? Not a great deal on it but lovely photographs and videos.
-
Granny C 25th March 2021 at 8:47 am
I haven’t seen the fan club site but will have a look for it. There are a number of Montalbano tours available also which I was looking into. They have mixed reviews though, so still unsure what my plans are. Definitely will visit Sicily one day, hopefully

Might see you there. I had a day in Palermo once. I was really impressed with it. Beautiful city. They even had a monument in remembrance of all the people killed by the Mafia.
A Montalbano tour sounds good. I will look out for those and try and find a good one. One Day !!!!!! -
Granny C 25th March 2021 at 5:08 pm
I’ve heard wonderful things about Palermo, can’t wait! but I can only deal with Covid or the Mafia not both at the same time, Hehe!!
-
Malley 25th March 2021 at 8:44 pm
Yes, think I would rather deal with the Mafia. Maybe we are dealing with the Mafia and don’t know it! Hehe!

It has to be Morse . Beer drinking , crossword puzzling , classical music ,occasional choir singing ,” singling “( or batcheloring ) perhaps the only sig difference was his old Jag. My low mileage Yeti rules me out . Been mooching around some old ” Morse” locations , Jericho (Oxford ) and a lovely Thameside pub with one of my many ” breedlings ” .

I enjoy Death in Paradise. Before lockdown I would fall asleep part way through, however with time on my hands * was using catch up on box sets until a few weeks ago. I discovered that for now, it has been taken off. My main reason for watching is looking at the Caribbean, sun, sea etc as I am missing visits to my heritage home of Barbados right now.
