One need never be ‘too damned old’. One has to adapt of course but don’t think of what you can’t do, think of all the things you can. I wish you all lots of fun in 2022. May it treat you gently while you go on learning and doing. Grab life

It is not easy to think of what you CAN do when almost daily the list of things you cannot do gets longer. This is particularly applicable to those things we are constantly told will keep us fit and our brains working well, like exercise. walking, dancing, gardening, singing etc. I would LOVE to still be able to do these things, but they are pretty much out of the question. And as to socialising, and talking with friends, I have none. (nor family) I am reduced to exchanging “chat” with virtual friends. And I still have to care for a disabled, demanding, dementia affected husband 24/7 I would love to know what I am supposed to find joy in, or “grab”

I’m sorry you have neither friends nor family. We all need an outlet, we all need each other. I hope you can get some solace from ‘virtual’ friends. Doubtless, some of them will have problems similar to you with your husband and can be so supportive. Then there are dementia specific organisations who would be very familiar with your situation. I know it’s difficult when you feel trapped to reach out. I’m glad you’re able to talk on here. It may be that just by stating your case you are the person helping others who are suffering in silence, too shy or distraught to speak for themselves. Joy can be found in tiny things. It doesn’t have to be big and impressive. It could be an unexpected flas of colour, a child laughing in the street or on the tv, a laugh or a smile. Even if they aren’t directed at you they can be life enhancing.. You are not alone. If you feel like a rant message me. I’m Moya
PS. Hope you like yellow roses-

You are very kind Moya – and full of wisdom. I too get most of my pleasure from helping others. I take my position as an Elder very seriously.

Another year ending but what is time,
A date made up for the purpose of what,
Speed up if you must from every birth to death & faded dreams for many,
But give me a moment to breathe, watch another sunrise, listen to the ocean & raise a glass of wine as i wait for sunset!Happy tomorrow & all your tomorrow’s, love & light to you all, remember to breathe. 🤗
