  • Re Universal Credit

My son will receive his final salary end October.  Does anyone know when he should apply for Universal Credit?  Thank you

      Hi Susan,

Sorry for the slow response and great to hear others thoughts – in case helpful we have a whole section of the site dedicated to benefits here – https://restless.co.uk/money/government-benefits/.

We also have a specific guide on claiming Universal Credit here – https://restless.co.uk/money/government-benefits/everything-you-need-to-know-about-universal-credit/

Wishing you and your son the very best of luck in these difficult times

Job seekers first if you have under few thousands in bank. From day you apply online and wait a month for payment. You start slightest job and off jobseekers. Apply for UC and you can borrow £700 over a year interest free. You get a work coach online to help if problems and sign up to Universal Credit account online to log everything you do.

That’s my experience in Scotland and depends how much you earned up to ending work

My experience of Universal Credit is nonsensical. I know it is linked to Brexit but it is still nonsense. In Liverpool I was entitled to Housing Benefit yet here in London I’m not. Nobody can explain that to me.

I intend to return to the North of England where things are properly explained to you. In London DSS is like a conveyor belt. I worked for Dept of Social Welfare in Ireland for a long time, so I have the ability to understand. Yet I am placed on a conveyor belt. Surely that is wrong.
