New business start up for my entrepreneurial son

My son is a cofounder in a new business. He is Product Manager and would like to know more about fobs that are used within a company for entry and exit of people.

What are the pit falls of certain types of fobs and what they like to do more with fobs.

For instance my company not only use fobs for entry and exit to my company but is also used for paying in the canteen. Not only that they can track peoples progress through a building.

If you or you know anyone that could help my son in creating a new product that can improve peoples experience please contact me. I and my son would really appreciate your help and I thank you in advance if you can.

Thank you

I have worked in this dynamic industry for over 20 years and I am currently a freelance RFID consultant & would be happy to discuss the possibilities with you/your son if you so wish.

Please feel free take look at my profile of LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-geraghty-1790825/

Access control is a very well established & market by key players who focus on this arena using RFID enabled key fobs as you mention.
How-ever, in my opinion there are a plethora of many more application in which would widen your scope immensely & create more opportunities for a new business, rather than focusing on a single market place which is already well served by some the larger players. I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

I think it would be useful to have an application or software that records all people’s inputs and outputs. This data could be useful in compiling statistics. Another solution would be to install a mechanism to count these inputs and outputs. If you want something innovative, you can search the internet or blogs like https://afreeadvice.com/how-to-start-a-blog/, which are the most practical and well-developed ideas, bringing maximum profit and efficiency.

I worked in a highly secure, sensitive environment. Every door you opened was logged obviously. But you also needed them for things like the photocopier etc. was integrated into your photo I-D badge. I also visited somewhere where sensors tracked exactly where you went in the building to within about a metre.
I believe alot of hospitals use similar for lone workers with live tracking.

Used a lot in Oil & Gas to track employees around the site, mainly for safety reasons to find employees location if something catastrophic happens

Indeed they do. Lone worker applications ideal for domiciliary care & can be expanded to fulfil specific needs & the patient can be looked at home.
The care worker has access to a security coded key access at the location.
RFID Tags are strategically applied to enable the care worker to log & validate that they have arrived at the location and another read show with the care worker has successfully gained access. Like wise they can administer the appropriate medication where applicable and deal with other pre established requirements such as bathing, preparing meals etc. Upon completion the lone worker will log out and all the data is updated in real time. Any issues are updated to the central data base to corroborate the activity and indeed to highlight late or non attendance, inability to access ( patient gone out or in distress) and so on.
