The coast in Northern Ireland is very beautiful! I was there in 2016 and would love to go back and explore further. Ireland also amazing for somewhere so close

There’s so much to explore on our doorstep isn’t there? I live in the National Forest, right in the heart of England. It borders Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire and is incredibly varied from ancient woods to more recent planting. Heaps to see and do, with National Memorial Arboretum, National Brewery Centre, castles, canals, National Trust properties and gardens. Happy planning 😊

We drove the NC 500 in Scotland a few years ago. Every time you turn a corner the views take your breath away.

When driving up the M6 to the Lake District take time to call in to the Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty it is stunning with great walks and drives plenty of lovely villages and its bonus is that it is a lot quieter than most hot spots. And then the mrecambe Bay Area around Arnside and silverdale wow

Northumberland is underrated, a lot of history and an interesting coastline.

Personally i enjoyed the North East coast , I lived there for a couple of years and just used to travel up the coast and discovered some lovely small seaside villages like Staithes, Seahouses, Lindisfarne and many more.

Yeah give Wales ago. I live in West Wales and it is beautiful. Before we moved we travelled all down all round Wales from North to South and a bit in the middle. Great part of the UK. Our beaches here in West Wales are gorgeous.

Here’s a really good book for exploring B roads and quiet drives in the UK. It’s an older book but very good. We are still using it for exploring. It can be found on Ebay for a few quid.

Shropshire, Northumberland, Devon and Dorset are all wonderful. Pick an interesting town as a centre and radiate out from there. I find that works to see the best of places.

Malvern is a nice place, too. A newly-dead High Street, but great history and walking in the stunning Malvern Hills.
-
Taffylad10 27th January 2021 at 9:14 am
If you visit Malvern, a really good visit is to the Morgan car factory. They do tours which are very informative.
If your feeling flush you can hire a Morgan for the day. A bit small in the cabin to drive but great fun. Here’s my co driver posing.

Hi, we snatched a 5 day canal boat trip from whixall boatyard in Shropshire to Llangollen in north Wales a couple of weeks ago…stunning scenery, really rural with cattle and sheep lining the canal, no traffic except the boats of course!
The aqueduct entering Wales was stunning and Llangollen was beautiful with the river dee running right through it, some nice places to eat and the people were so friendly…look out for My in her tuk-tuk!-

A highlight of my first trip to Liverpool couple of years ago was the ‘Another Place’ modern sculpture in Crosby, a short train journey away – something a bit different!

Go to the West coast of Scotland, preferably in May or September when it is not so busy. You can get an island hopscotch ticket. I would suggest Oban- Barra-South Uist, drive up to North Uist, through Benebecula, then north Uist to Uig in Skye, then take your time driving back. Stop in Pitlochry, Peebles, the Lake district on your way back

Go for it. it’s better to travel to where there is summer like weather when there’s winter in England. It’s just a suggestion.
