Hydrangea cuttings

Advice please ( in very simple terms) !!! When and how to take cuttings from Hydrangeas, mine are sprouting up at good speed. No flower heads yet, just masses of leaves at the moment. Never attempted cuttings before..

The best time is around August /September and take cuttings around 10cm long. however try cutting some stems now around 20cm long stick them in the soil about 10cm deep somewhere shaded and leave alone for this year they may root and if they do lift and plant in position next Feb, you have nothing to loose by trying this method.
