A quiet Christmas for me, and saw the new year in on my own. I just wanted to wish everybody on Rest Less a Happy New Year. Let’s hope 2022 is a better year than 2021.

Well said, Sandy! Happy New Year to everyone too! Less lonely could be the slogan of the year. I am lucky, still have 2 sons around me, but missing daughter and 2 little ones every day.
It can be hard to get to know new folk, especially if the mobility becomes an issue. But have been through the “process” when I first came over from Europe, and found people take time to “warm to you”, as I put it, and for you to accept things are done differently in another household, or country, or school, or any setting. Once there is good will on both sides it can work really well. So here is to this New Year, and we are going to make the most of it! Cheers!! Linde-

Anyway, I come from Austria originally. The one thing I can say with any amount of certainty is that my countrymen/women have always been adaptable- to new situations, new groups coming and going, passing through,- the Danube was a major travel route for centuries, from East to West mainly. I have never been to Austria – yet. If you want to know about Ireland … I was sent there during WW2, went to school and didn’t return to London till I was 18, 60 years ago. This year I completed my formal education with an MA in English.. I always do everything late. As your interested in surnames mine is Goatley. My maiden name was Kimberley. I’m glad you like Moya. In 1928 my father made a record of a traditional Irish song called Moya my Girl.

Thank you, Moyà, for your good wishes and the most interesting early life you led. We must talk more, I also did a ‘late ‘ MA in Education, ( you guessed: language and Linguistics) at age 56, and proud of it!! As you must be, it’s a challenge!
