BBC Sounds – Anglo Saxon Kingdoms

Ian Hislop This Union: The ghost kingdoms of England

For anyone interested in our pre-Norman history. I listened to the first one today and enjoyed it immensely.

Thank you very much for the heads up. Does it start with the arrival of the Saxons?

The first one was on last night and looked at the Anglo Saxons, where they were from and who settled where. It concentrated on East Anglia, mentioning Sutton Hoo. There Is quite a good write up on BBC Sounds. The app can be downloaded and I listened to it on Sounds Radio4 catch up this afternoon.

The next episode will be about Northumbria.

I may listen to it again tomorrow as I was cooking at the time so only half of it went in.

I heard the trailer for this and it sounds fascinating. I shall certainly be listening.
