More fun seeing it when it happens to somebody else though:)

Don’t have an Alexa but had it with Siri on my phone / watch – too quiet to startle anyone though. Just annoying as he / she / it only ever pops up when I’m wanting something else.

I’m sure that little lady who lives inside the speaker has a sense of humour!

She’s only done it once.
My words (to one of the cats) were: “Rocky – stop scratching that rug!”
Alexa pipes up “I’m sorry. I don’t understand that.”
I yelled back “Mind your own business I wasn’t talking to you!”
She has never tried it again. Lol.

I was watching The Gadget show once and they were demonstrating how to order things on there. My Alexa popped up with ‘ order confirmed’ i had to get straight online and cancel the order.

There are some brilliant examples on youtube where Alexa has messed up, also funnier ones are the videos of seniors trying to use it.
The one where a kid tries to hear a nursery rhyme and Alexa tries to find him porn!!!

Twice when I’ve been in the study working, Alexa has suddenly said ‘Alice Watkins is trying to contact you’ (although I can’t remember the actual name). I was mystified and later asked my wife if she knew an Alice Watkins. She said she’d used to have a client of that name, but she’d left the year before when she went to uni, and hadn’t been back in touch since.
I still have no idea what that was about.

You can call people via Alexa, maybe she was trying to.

I’ll have to try and see what happens. Doesn’t your phone just ring though, does Alexa give you a notification?

You can call people direct via Alexa device to Alexa device.
I don’t use it myself but did try it once with my old fella.
If interested, just look on Google and it will explain what you need to do to setup.

I don’t think I’ll be setting it up – I have an aversion to calling people on my phone, I don’t need to expand the devices I don’t call from!
