Not a party political broadcast, but there’s no avoiding the impact this backtracking will have on those gathered around this particular table.

Boris Johnson promised last year that everybody in the UK will “get the care they need in their old age but won’t have to sell their home to pay for it.”

Yesterday he told Tory MPs to vote to make some of the poorest homeowners in the country lose their homes to pay for care, after which, GenX,Y&Z are paying extra NIC, for a service that won’t be there for them when their turn comes.

Maybe this is a political plan of the Tories to create as much mess for labour to win at the next election, knowing labour will never sort the mess, therefore enabling

the Tories to get back in again ? That’s what British politics is all about unfortunately.

So maybe the answer is sell, rent and spend your money ? As the old adage goes “you can’t take it with you” and if you intend to gift don’t leave it to the end, gift it now ?

Most of Europe rent. And the rent is strictly controlled by the city/state. Berlin is a great example. When all the East Berlin housing stock entered the market, the state ensured that profiteering didn’t inflate the market. There is none of this, “rent is dead money” and “homes are an investment” – that has done no market/population long term good.

But if these people are only paying ÂŁ100,000 for a house they had low mortgages. Therefore must have had loads of disposable income / savings.

They get paid the same as workers elsewhere

BoJo waffles a great many loads of BS then reverses soon after – he spent all taxpayers money on Brexit and other brainless investments. Unfortunately, England is a 2-party state so fingers crossed

Boris’s leapfrogging Farage to hold on to power has really distorted people’s perspective of the political spectrum. Alas, I think the new neoliberal Labour Party are further right than Major’s Conservatives. Starmer’s certainly not a socialist or a democrat (judging by what he’s done with in his party – which I know will please those who dig no deeper than right-wing headlines); and he’s been no opposition to the Conservatives. He’s relying solely upon Murdoch’s promise to anoint him at the next GE.

      Well said!
Not forgetting the war criminal who invented New Labour based on Maggie Thatcher’s policies
